Alkanolamine formates are used as deicers, preferably accompanied by potassium formate. Preferred is triethanolamine formate, but the amine portion may be mono-, di- or triethanolamine or may be other, further alkoxylated amines. The compositions and methods are suggested for aircraft deicing.
