ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A deinking agent for the reclamation of waste paper which comprises one or more of specific compounds is disclosed. Each of the specific compounds used in the present invention, which is obtained by, for example, further esterifying an alkylene oxide adduct of a dibasic acid, is characterized by being excellent in abilities to wash and disperse ink and foaming properties. Further, each is a dibasic acid-series compound and is thus superior to common nonionic surfactants in its ability to aggregate ink. Therefore, these compounds show good performance as a deinking agent. In addition, they are in the form of a liquid and thus can be easily handled, different from, for example, fatty acids. - 30 -
