A reusable bait canister (10) having a hollow body member (12), an opening (18) for access to the bait, a closure member (16) supported by the body member (12) for movement between a closed position and an open position, spring means (24) to bias the closure member (16) to the open position and corrodible link means (28) for connection between the body member (12) and the closure member (16) to secure the closure member (16) in the closed position against the bias of the spring means (24), the corrodible link means (28) being adapted to corrode and break under the bias of the spring means (24) after a predetermined time of immersion in seawater.
