The invention relates to a pharmaceutical delayed-release formulation containing proinsulin C-peptide and the use of the delayed-release formulations for treating complications of diabetes. In particular, the invention relates to delayed-release formulations in which proinsulin C- peptide is present in an absorbable matrix consisting for example of absorbable polymers. The invention also relates to microparticles which contain proinsulin C-peptide.
