A medical catheter (1) for the transvascular deployment of a collapsible medical device such as a filter (2) has a tubular body formed by an inner tubular core (11) surrounded by an outer thin-walled tube (10) which is fixed to the core (11). The outer thin-walled tube (10) extends outwardly beyond a distal end (12) of the core (11) to form a fixed thin-walled medical device embracing pod (3). The filter (2) is carried on a guidewire (6) which is slidably engagable within a central lumen of the core (11) and the filter (2) can be collapsed against the guidewire (6) for loading within the pod (3). With the filter (2) thus loaded within the pod (3) the distal end of the catheter (1) can be manoeuvred through a patient's vascular system to a desired deployment site where the filter (2) is discharged from the pod (3) allowing the filter (2) to expand within the blood vessel for use filtering blood flowing through the blood vessel.
L'invention concerne un cathéter médical (1) destiné au déploiement transvasculaire d'un dispositif médical pliable tel qu'un filtre (2). Ledit cathéter comprend un corps tubulaire formé par une partie centrale (11) tubulaire intérieure, entourée d'un tube extérieur (10) à paroi mince fixé à la partie centrale (11). Le tube extérieur (10) à paroi mince dépasse d'une extrémité distale (12) de la partie centrale (11) de sorte qu'il forme une enveloppe (3) fixe enveloppant le dispositif médical à paroi mince. Le filtre (2) est monté sur un guide-fil (6) insérable coulissant dans une lumière centrale de la partie centrale (11), et ce filtre (2) peut être plié contre le fil-guide (6) en vue de son introduction dans l'enveloppe (3). Une fois le filtre (2) ainsi logé dans l'enveloppe (3), l'extrémité distale du cathéter (1) peut être introduite dans le système vasculaire d'un patient jusqu'à un site de déploiement voulu où le filtre est sorti de l'enveloppe (3), ce qui permet audit filtre (2) de se dilater à l'intérieur du vaisseau sanguin et de filtrer ainsi le sang s'écoulant dans celui-ci.
