In one aspect of the invention lipid vesicles comprising proteinaceous channel and said small molecules are generated. Said proteinaceous channel and/or said lipid vesicle are formulated such that said small molecule is released in the vicinity of a target cell. Said target cell may be present in vitro or in vivo.
