This invention has been designed for both able bodied curlers as well as those with a physical impairment. Certain curlers experience painful and disabling neck conditions that make it difficult or impossible to deliver the curling stone with accuracy. This curler is typically not able to push out from the "hack" in the delivery of the curling stone, and tilt his/her head back far enough to maintain eye contact with the skip and the broom at the opposite end of the curling rink. Accuracy in the delivery is therefore compromised. The "Delivery Plus" allows this curler to reach and control the curling stone while remaining in an more upright position, thereby reducing stress on the neck. Accuracy and comfort levels are improved. All curlers benefit from the "Delivery Plus" in that the line of sight is extended resulting in improved accuracy. In addition, the curling stone can be delivered with greater force when a heavier shot is required. The curved shaft, creating a "pistol grip" grasp, and the forearm "cuff" provide greater comfort and control in the delivery motion. The coupler on the end of shaft swivels allowing the curler to place a "turn" on the curling stone as it's released cleanly, resulting in the desired "curl". This is facilitated by the "axle" connection of the upper and lower sections of the coupler and the quick release design of the lower section (tubular with bottom half removed). The Canadian Curling Association has approved the use of a curling aid for general play. In the Rules of Curling for General Play (Sept. '08 - Sept. '10) the curling aid is referred to as a "delivery stick". While the "Delivery Plus" is not a "delivery stick" as such, it "enables the player to deliver a stone without placing a hand on the handle [of the stone]". Page 21, section 15(4) of the rule book.
