ABSTRACT Chewing gum bases having flavorants dispersed in a melt- spun matrix formed with gum base elastomer solvents are disclosed. Chewing gum compositions containing the novel gum base display prolonged flavor release due to the tendency of the cud to release flavorants during chewing. Alternatively, additional flavorants are included in the gum compositions preferably as part of rapidly soluble matrices so that. sequential flavor release is obtained. Methods of preparing such gum bases and chewing gum compositions are also disclosed.
