ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A method of demulsifying a water-in-oil emulsion which comprises contacting the water-in-oil emulsion with an alkyd resin in which one component of the resin is the residue of a polyalkylene glycol. The method is applicable to the breaking of water-in-oil emulsions obtained at a drilling well head.
