ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A natural or man-made underwater soil structure is densified by the vibratory shock waves caused by the sudden release of high pressure compressed air into the water above the soil structure. A plurality of air guns are placed in close proximity to the soil and are fired at regular intervals of time during and/or after depositing of the soil to improve the soil structure's ability to support a platform or the other structure, and to reduce the likelihood of damage under environmental loading.
