In an optical density checking apparatus, a 0.7-µm first light beam.(B1) not transmitted through shredded leaf tobacco (LS) and a 1.3-µm second light beam (B2) transmitted through the shredded leaf tobacco (LS), which are from first and second light sources (12, 14), are synthesized, and an obtained synthetic light beam (B12) is applied to a tobacco rod (TR). The projected light quantities, reflected light quantities, and passing light quantities of the first and second light beams (B1, B2) are measured by a composite light-receiving element (27, 43, 57), projected light quantity control circuit (36), and arithmetic circuit (48). The arithmetic circuit (48) calculates the transmitted light quantity of the second light beam (B2) transmitted through the shredded leaf tobacco (LS) on the basis of the projected light quantities, reflected light quantities, and passing light quantities of the first and second light beams (B1, B2), and calculates the density of the shredded leaf tobacco (LS) on the basis of the transmitted light quantity.

L'invention concerne un dispositif d'inspection de densité optique, dans lequel un premier faisceau lumineux (B1) de 0,7- mu m provenant d'une première source lumineuse (12) ne transmettant pas de tabac haché (LS) et un second faisceau lumineux (B2) de 1,3- mu m provenant d'une seconde source lumineuse (14) transmettant le tabac haché sont synthétisés en un faisceau lumineux synthétisé (B12) arrosant un boudin de tabac (TR). Les quantités de lumières projetées, les quantités de lumière réfléchies et les quantités de lumière de transmission des premier et second faisceaux lumineux (B1, B2) sont mesurées par des éléments de réception de lumière composites (27, 43, 57), un circuit (36) de commande de la quantité de lumière projetée et un circuit de calcul (48). Ce dernier (48) calcule la quantité de lumière de transmission du second faisceau lumineux (B2) transmettant du tabac haché (LS) sur la base des quantités de lumière projetées, réfléchies et de transmission des premier et second faisceaux lumineux (B1, B2), puis calcule la densité du tabac haché (LS) sur la base de la quantité de lumière de transmission.
