Dental articles including at least one optical surface formed of a multilayer optical film including layers of at least one strain-induced birefringent material are disclosed. The multilayer optical films included in the dental articles is preferably post-formed into desired non-planar shapes in manners that result in some deformation of the optical stack of the multilayer optical films. A variety of dental implements can be constructed with multilayer optical film including dental mirrors, light guides for use in connection with photo-curing dental materials, and matrix bands for use in molding photo- curing dental restoratives.
L'invention concerne des articles dentaires comprenant au moins une surface optique formée d'un film optique multicouche contenant des couches d'au moins un matériau biréfringent induit par déformation. Les films optiques multicouches contenus dans les articles dentaires sont de préférence post-formés selon les formes non planes désirées et selon des façons ayant pour résultat une certaine déformation de la pile optique des films optiques multicouches. Une variété d'instruments dentaires peut être réalisée avec un film optique multicouche et notamment des miroirs dentaires, des guides de lumière utilisés en liaison avec des matériaux dentaires à photodurcissement, et des bandes pour matrices destinées à être utilisés dans le moulage d'articles de reconstitution dentaire à photodurcissement.
