ABSTRACT A dental composition is disclosed comprising a matrix and a patrix where the matrix comprises substantally an aromatic dibasic acid having an ethylenically unsaturated group, such as 4-methacryloxyethyltrimellitate, or an acid anhydride thereof, other ethylenically unsaturated monomer and a catalyst, and the patrix comprises substantially at least one filler, and the method of providing the dental composition. This dental composition may be used as a restorative dental composition such as a dental filling. The patrix may comprise at least 80% to 85 by weight of the dental composition. In a further embodiment, the patrix may comprise up to 90% by weight of the dental composition. The dental composition may be cured by standard methods including exposure to heat or UV radiation, and by catalytic reaction including free radical initiators.
