The present invention relates to a handle for receiving a dental floss holder in releasable frictional engagement. The handle has an elongated gripping portion and a head portion. The head portion receives the dental floss holder in releasable frictional engagement. The head portion is located at a distal end of the handle and extends generally transversely of a longitudinal axis of the gripping portion. The head portion has a generally U-shaped channel with a floor and two spaced-apart walls. One of the walls has an indentation and a protrusion. The other wall has at least one protrusion and at least one indentation spaced therefrom.
