The present invention is a device for storing, dispensing and holding floss under tension to facilitate the tooth flossing process. The flosser includes an elongated tapered handle with a cylindrical container for floss at one end and at the opposite end a pair of tines orientated to hold the floss in a direction parallel with the longitudinal axis of the handle. The depth of the tines allows the device to floss back teeth almost as readily as front teeth by sloping the tines at an angle to the horizontal. The floss passes from the cylindrical spool to a clamping bolt and then is looped over the tines and wound onto a slotted tension drum which is provided with a ratchet and pawl. No threading of floss is required, only looping. After a flossing session the locking clamp is loosened and about 5cm of used floss is wound onto the tension drum pulling about 5cm of fresh floss across the tines. The tension drum will accommodate about one month's normal floss use, after which the used floss can readily be pulled off, cut, discarded and the device reset.
