A dental handpiece is disclosed including a turbine construction creating a radial in flow of air onto the impeller blades about the whole circumference of the turbine. An air guide inserted into the turbine housing and extending about the turbine defines a drive air supply chamber separated from the turbine housing and communicating with a drive air supply conduit, the air guide having a plurality of inlet openings for radially inwardly directing pressurized air from the drive air supply chamber into the turbine housing onto the turbine.
