A jig assembly which i) automatically axially aligns a turbine assembly, ii) has a measured length of stroke so components are correctly positioned along the spindle of the turbine assembly, iii) presses on the inner portion of a bearing thereby ensuring that a new bearing is not damaged during assembly, and iv) is used in conjunction with a transfer pin to minimize and ease handling of the minute parts. The jig assembly immensely simplifies rebuilding turbine assemblies in dental handpieces. The jig assembly is used in conjunction with a lateral dental press apparatus invented by F. M. Mutchler.
