The present development relates to a dental implant (10) having a dual-textured exterior surface. The implant (10) has a smooth-surfaced head (12) with a wrench-engaging projection (42), a tapered beaded-surfaced (34) body (14) for improved anchoring in bone (90), and a threaded transition region (16) between the head (12) and body (14) that serves to anchor the implant (10) to the bone (90) and provides a barrier between the smooth surface of the head (12) and the beaded surface (34) of the body (14).
