DENTAL MEASURING INSTRUMENT AND METHOD OF MAKING AND USING IT ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE To make Gothic tracings, a Gothic scribe comprising a movable member adapted to be mounted by a universal joint to wing members in a plurality of different angles with respect to the wing members and a scribe vertically adjustable with respect to and mounted to the movable member are adjusted with the wing members, and the movable member is locked in the same plane to measure the vertical opening by moving the scribe up to a striking plate and then used to measure the centric relationship. After proper adjustment, another measurement is made with the base plates in place and the movable member unlocked to permit movement. The base plates are locked in place after the jaws have been relaxed with the point of the scribe in the centric relationship and used to make the denture.
