A dental model articulator includes two hinge-jointed arms, each arm having segments connected at a hinge joint having mating ele-ments, one integral to each segment of an arm. One element includes two cymbals that are coax-ial on a major hinge axis and concave facing which resiliently capture between them a node of the mating element on the other segment which has the form of opposed, outwardly facing con-vexities. Multiaxial motion between the seg-ments of each arm is accommodated by the ro-tation of the convexities of the node within de-tents at the apices of the cymbals. The extrem-ities of each arm terminate in cylindrical rod--like elements that are parallel to the major hinge axis. The rods engage with transverse, cylindri-cal channels either cut-in, molded-in or affixed to the models. With the models positioned in cen-tric occlusal relationship and the arms adjacently positioned and engaged, the four rods are adhe-sively fixed in the channels. Once fixed, the two hinge joints together define a single hinge axis posterior and interjacent to the models. Further, each hinge joint can allow the node elements to release from the axis detents and slide between the cymbals to permit protrusive and lateral mas-ticatory motions between the dental models.
Un articulateur pour moulages dentaires comprend deux bras reliés par charnière qui comprennent chacun des segments reliés à une articulation par charnière comportant des éléments d'accouplement, chaque élément d'accouplement étant solidaire par construction à un segment respectif de bras. Un élément comprend deux cymbales qui sont coaxiales sur un axe charnière principal et une face concave qui piègent par résilience entre eux un noeud de l'élément d'accouplement situé sur l'autre segment qui se présente sous forme de convexités opposées donnant sur l'extérieur. Le mouvement multiaxial entre les segments de chaque bras est autorisé par la rotation des convexités du noeud à l'intérieur de détentes situées aux pointes des cymbales. Les extrémités de chaque bras se terminent dans des éléments cylindriques du type barrettes qui sont parallèles à l'axe charnière principal. Les barrettes se logent dans des gorges cylindriques transversales taillées moulées dans les moulages ou fixées sur ces derniers. Lorsque les moulages sont placés en position fermée centrale avec les bras placés adjacents et en contact, les quatre barrettes sont fixées avec de la colle dans les gorges. Une fois fixées, les deux articulations de la charnière définisent ensemble un axe charnière principal qui se situe à l'arrière et se trouve interadjacent aux moulages. En outre, chaque articulation de charnière peut permettre aux éléments de noeud de sortir des détentes de l'axe et glisser entre les cymbales pour autoriser les mouvements de protrusion et de mastication latérale entre les moulages dentaires.
