Disclosed within is a dental restorative system including a dental abutment (100) having a longitudinal axis (119), lingual (141) and facial (142) aspects, a base portion (115) for engagement with a dental implant, and a tapered coronal portion (135). The dental abutment (100) further includes an emergence profile portion (140) between the base portion (115) and the tapered coronal portion (135). The emergence profile portion (140) includes at least a first concave surface (132) and at least a first convex surface (133). The dental abutment (100) may further include an interproximally sloping margin shoulder (150) and a reduced terminal portion (137) located at the upper end of the tapered coronal portion (135). Alternative embodiments of the dental abutment are also disclosed.
