ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The appearance of a visually clear extruded ribbon of dentifrice containing as an abrasive agent silica xerogel and as a thickening and gelling agent a synthetic hectorite can be improved by incorporating in the dentifrice a water soluble monofluorophosphate. The dentifrice as well as being visually clear should be free from visible particles and immobile bubbles of gas. Optionally, the dentifrice can also contain chloroform.
