This invention encompasses an oral composition for treating or preventing dry mouth with following benefits: antibacterial/ anti-fungal efficacy, low irritancy, and moisture retention. The compositions can be a toothpaste, a mouth rinse or a spray and include one or more non-ionic surfactants, as foaming agents, one or more broad spectrum anti-microbial ingredient, such as chlorhexidine and cetylpyridinium chloride, and one or more oral surface adhesive polysaccharides that can encage cationic actives to help the deposition and retention of the agents onto oral surfaces and thus provide antimicrobial efficacy.

Cette invention concerne une composition orale destinée au traitement ou à la prévention de la sécheresse buccale avec les bénéfices suivants : efficacité antibactérienne/antifongique, faible irritation et rétention de l'humidité. Les compositions peuvent être une pâte dentifrice, un bain de bouche ou un spray et elles comprennent un ou plusieurs surfactants non ioniques, tels que des agents moussants, un ou plusieurs composants antimicrobiens à large spectre, tels que la chlorhexidine et le chlorure de cétylpyridinium, et un ou plusieurs polysaccharides adhérant à la surface orale qui peuvent emprisonner des principes actifs cationiques visant à aider le dépôt et la rétention des agents sur des surfaces orales et procurer ainsi une efficacité antimicrobienne.
