A composition for retaining dentures in the mouth of a denture wearer comprising hydrophilic gelling agent, thickening agent, water resistance imparting agent and humectants in water, the composition being formable into a viscous hydrophobic film in use. A method of retaining dentures in the mouth of a denture wearer comprising applying to the denture or the mouth tissue the composition and placing the denture into position in the mouth in a manner such that the composition substantially forms a seal between the mouth tissue and the denture to thereby assist in the retention of the denture.
L'invention concerne une composition de fixation de prothèses dentaires dans la bouche d'un utilisateur. Cette composition comprend un agent gélifiant hydrophile, un agent épaississant, un agent conférant une résistance à l'eau et des agents humectants, dans l'eau. On peut donner à cette composition la forme d'un film hydrophobe visqueux, lors de son utilisation. L'invention traite également d'un procédé de fixation de prothèses dentaires dans la bouche d'un utilisateur. Ce procédé consiste à appliquer à la prothèse ou aux tissus de la bouche la composition, puis à placer la prothèse en position dans la bouche de telle sorte que la composition assure sensiblement une étanchéité entre les tissus et la prothèse, ce qui facilite le maintien en position de cette dernière.
