A B S T R A C T An improved deodorant composition comprising an anionic base material selected from the alkali metal salts of long chain alkanoic acids of from 16 to 22 carbon atoms, a lower alkanol and from 0.05 to 1 percent by weight, based on the weight of the total composition, of a quaternary am- monium saccharinate salt represented by the following formula: Image wherein R1 is an alkyl radical having from 8 to 16 carbon atoms and R2 and R3 are either methyl or ethyl; said compo- sition being generally in the form of a solid gel.
