-20- ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A depilating appliance comprises a series of adjacent, closely-spaced hair-plucking disks driven by an electric motor housed within a casing which is designed to be held in one hand. The disks form a roller unit which is rotatably mounted behind a slot, grid or the like provided in one end of the casing. Superfluous hairs to be removed are engaged between the disks in a combing action, periodically gripped by deformation of the disks, then pulled and plucked-out as a result of rotational displacement of the disks.
