ABSTRACT Derivatised nucleic acid sequences The present invention provides derivatised nucleic acid sequences with one or more structural elements of the general formula:- X - A- M (I) wherein X is the group ? N- or ? N-R-N'H-, in which the nitrogen atom is the amine nitrogen atom of a nuclein base and R is a straight-chained or branched lower alkylene radical which can be interrupted by heteroatoms, A is a bifunctional bridge member and M is a component of an immunological reaction. The present invention also provides processes for the preparation of these derivatised nucleic acid sequences and a process for the determination of nucleic acids and nucleic acid sequences.
