ABSTRACT Substituted-amide derivatives of L- and DL - 4-methoxy and 4- hydroxyphenylglycine of the formula: Image where R is hydrogen or methyl and R1 is lower alkyl which may optionally be substituted with one or more hydroxy, lower alkoxy, carboxy, amino, mono or di lower-alkylamino, phenyl or phenoxy groups; or an alkynyl, alkenyl or cycloalkyl group, are useful in ischaemic heart disease, cardiac failure, cerebral insufficiency obesity and diabetes. A process for their preparation and pharmaceutical compositions are also claimed.
