ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Novel pharmaceutical compounds of the formula Image I wherein R1 is selected from the group consisting of cycloalkyl groups contain- ing 3-6 carbon atoms; cycloalkyl-alkyl groups containing 4-6 carbon atoms: 1-adamantyl; and 2-adamantyl, and R2 and R3 are both hydrogen, or a physiolog- ically acceptable salt of an optical isomer thereof. The compounds are useful for selectively combating viruses which cause diseases in animals, including common infections and neoplastic diseases such as cancer.
