ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE: The invention is concerned with new derivatives of m-diethylaminophenol having the general formula (I): Image (I) wherein: R1 is hydrogen or alkyl containing 1 to 3 carbon atoms; R2 is hydrogen or alkyl containing 1 or 2 carbon atoms; and X is halogen; O-C(O)NH-alkyl containing 1 to 4 carbon atoms; O-C(O)-NH-aryl containing 6 to 10 carbon atoms and which may be substituted by halogen or SO2NH2; N(alkyl)2 wherein the alkyl groups contain 1 to 4 carbon atoms; Image , Image , O-C(O)-NH-pyridyl; or O-C(O)N(alkyl)2 wherein the alkyl group contains 1 to 4 carbon atoms. The compounds of the invent on are useful as intermediates in the preparation of dyes for textile materials.
