- 9 - "DESALINATION SYSTEM" ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Salinated or other contaminated water is fed to a chamber and sprayed into an evaporation chamber that is main- tained at a relatively low pressure by means of a vacuum pump or the like. This evaporates the water so that desal- inated water vapour is drawn out through the pump and dis- charged into a collection chamber at a higher pressure where- upon it condenses and may be discharged into a storage area. The solids removed by the evaportion of the water collect at the base of the evaporation chamber and can be removed period- ically through an air lock.
