A method and an apparatus for desalinizing raw water are disclosed. The method can include wicking the raw water into a porous material by capillary action and heating the raw water in the porous material with a heating element to form water vapor. The water vapor then can be condensed to form purified water. The apparatus can include a chamber (20) for holding raw water, a heating element (24), a sheet of porous material (42) and a chamber (22) for collecting water vapor evaporated from the raw water in the porous material.
L'invention concerne un procédé et un appareil permettant de dessaler de l'eau brute. Ce procédé consiste à faire pénétrer de l'eau brute dans une matière poreuse sous l'action capillaire et à faire chauffer l'eau brute dans ladite matière au moyen d'un élément chauffant afin de former de la vapeur d'eau. Cette vapeur d'eau peut ensuite être condensée de manière à constituer de l'eau purifiée. Ledit appareil peut comporter une chambre (20) servant à former de l'eau brute, un élément chauffant (24), une feuille (42) de matière poreuse et une chambre (22) destinée à recueillir la vapeur d'eau évaporée à partir de l'eau brute de la matière poreuse.
