The present invention provides a device (42,44), system (40) and method for desiccation of liquid samples. The device (42,44) includes multiple concentration chambers (64) with structure (42) to provide each chamber (64) with a gas inlet (92) and a gas vent (100). Methods of using the device (42,44) to desiccate multiple liquid samples also are provided. The device (42,44) may be assembled with a processing device (46,48) to form a system (40) designed to provide automated chemical analysis of liquid samples. The system (40) is particularly useful for modular, high-throughput chemical processing, especially in the fields of genomics and proteomics.
