ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A portable electric generator in which a float tank rises and falls in response to tidal flow. The float tank is operatively connected to a wheel having a plurality of circumferential tanks, half of which are water filled and which is rotatable about a horizontal axis in both a clockwise and anticlockwise direction. When a full tank reaches the top of the wheel, trip means operate to release the water which flows over a turbine to corresponding empty tank at the bottom of the wheel.
