The toroidal hub is fabricated on a rim 1 comprising a middle part connecting two lateral annular anchor zones. The said rim comprises an orifice for the passage of air which can be selected closed or open, and connected to a source of pressure, to atmosphere or to vacuum. The rim 1 also comprises a duct 3 traversing it, and comprising a valve 30 which can be selected closed or open, the duct ending at an orifice to which piping can be connected using an appropriate clamp 13. A stretchable membrane 2 is mounted on the radially outer side of the rim, and is fastened there so as to be watertight on anchor zones over the full perimeter of the said rim, so as to define an enclosed space on the radially outer side of the said rim, between the rim and the membrane. A fluid material 6 completely fills the said enclosed space, the said membrane being pushed against a mould 5. After filling, the membrane is pushed against the mass of fill material by the vacuum maintained in the said enclosed space, thereby producing a substantially rigid hub supported by the rim 1.

Le noyau toroïdal est fabriqué sur une jante 1 comportant une partie médiane reliant deux zones d'ancrage latérales annulaires. Ladite jante comporte un orifice de passage de l'air qui peut être sélectivement fermé ou ouvert, et branché à une source de pression, à l'atmosphère, ou au vide. La jante 1 comporte en outre une canalisation 3 la traversant, et comportant une vanne 30 qui peut être sélectivement fermée ou ouverte, la canalisation aboutissant à un orifice auquel on peut brancher une tuyauterie par une bride 13 adéquate. Une membrane étirable 2 est montée sur le côte radialement extérieur de la jante, et y est fixée de façon étanche sur des zones d'ancrage sur tout le pourtour de ladite jante, de façon à définir une espace clos du côté radialement extérieur de ladite jante, entre la jante et la membrane. Une matière fluide 6 remplit à refus ledit espace clos, ladite membrane étant plaquée contre un moule 5. Après remplissage, la membrane est plaquée contre la masse de matière de remplissage sous l'effet du vide maintenu dans ledit espace clos, procurant ainsi un noyau sensiblement rigide supporté par la jante 1.
