ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The disclosure provides mixtures for the desulfuri- zation of metal melts, especially steel and crude iron melts, based on CaC2-CaO-crystal blends produced in the fused mass. More specifically, the mixtures contain free CaC2-CaO-crystal blend hydrated to Ca(OH)2. The disclo- sure also relates to a process for making the mixtures.
