A microcatheter for de-livering embolic agent to a vascular site is provided. The microcatheter has a biocompatible or biocompatible and biodegradable tip which can be detach-ably engaged to the microcatheter body by a thermoplastic sleeve. Once the em-bolic agent is delivered to the desired vascular site, the tip of the microcatheter is often entrapped within the mass of the liquid embolic fluid. Using the micro-catheter, the clinician can retract the mi-crocatheter at a predetermined retraction force thereby disengaging the tip from the microcatheter body allowing for eas-ier removal of the microcatheter.

L'invention concerne un microcatéther pour l'administration d'un agent embolique en un site vasculaire. Le microcathéter comprend une pointe biocompatible ou biocompatible et biodégradable qui peut être insérée par un manchon thermoplastique sur le corps du microcatéther et peut s'en détacher.
