The present invention relates to a method of identifying a haematopoietic stem cell (HSC) or progeny thereof comprising the steps of: obtaining a cell sample including HSC or progeny thereof; detecting the presence of at least one carbohydrate sequence having a sequence of at least one disaccharide repeat of glucuronic acid and N-acetylglucosamine or an equivalent thereof; and identifying a HSC or progeny thereof having the sequence or equivalent thereof. The invention also relates to methods of enriching cell populations for HSC or progeny thereof, for isolating HSC or progeny thereof and cell preparations obtained using the methods of their invention and their uses.

L'invention concerne un procédé d'identification d'une cellule souche hématopoïétique (CSH) ou de ses descendants. Ce procédé consiste à : obtenir un échantillon cellulaire comprenant une CSH ou ses descendants ; détecter la présence d'au moins une séquence d'hydrate de carbone présentant une séquence d'au moins une répétition disaccharide d'un acide glucuronique et de N-acétylglucosamine ou d'un équivalent de celui-ci ; et identifier une CSH ou ses descendants comprenant la séquence ou l'équivalent de celle-ci. L'invention se rapporte également à des procédés d'enrichissement de populations de cellules pour une CSH ou sa descendance, à des procédés d'isolement de CSH ou sa descendance, ainsi qu'à des préparations de cellules obtenues au moyen des procédés de l'invention et à leurs utilisations.
