The present invention is directed to a method of detecting prostatitis comprising obtaining an expressed prostatic secretion from a patient; contacting a device having diagnostic test reagents to the expressed prostatic secretion, the diagnostic test reagents reacting with the expressed prostatic secretion to produce a change in the device; reading the change in the device to produce a positive or negative experimental test result, wherein the experimental test result is positive when the experimental test result is pre-determined to correspond with a number above 10 for the number of white blood cell per high powered field and the experimental test result is negative when the experimental test result corresponds with a number of 10 or less for the number of white blood cell per high powered field; and determining presence of prostatitis with the positive experimental test result and the absence of prostatitis with the negative experimental test result. The present invention is also directed to a device for use in the inventive method. The device has two indicators, one for the presence of prostatitis and one for the absence of prostatitis.
La présente invention concerne un procédé permettant de détecter la prostatite. Ce procédé consiste d'abord à prélever sur le patient un échantillon de sécrétion prostatique exprimée. Le procédé consiste alors à mettre en contact avec la sécrétion prostatique exprimée un dispositif comportant des réactifs de test de diagnostic qui réagissent avec la sécrétion prostatique exprimée de façon produire un changement dans le dispositif. Le procédé consiste ensuite mesurer le changement affectant le dispositif de façon à produire un résultat positif ou négatif du test expérimental. En l'occurrence, le résultat du test expérimental est positif lorsque le résultat du test expérimental correspond par prédétermination à une numération supérieure à 10 pour le nombre de leucocytes par champ de grande puissance, et le résultat du test expérimental est négatif lorsque le résultat du test expérimental correspond par prédétermination à une numération n'excédant pas 10 pour le nombre de leucocytes par champ de grande puissance. Le procédé consiste enfin à convenir d'une présence de prostatite en cas de résultat positif du test expérimental et de l'absence de prostatite en cas de résultat négatif du test expérimental. L'invention concerne enfin un dispositif à utiliser pour exploiter le procédé de l'invention. Ce dispositif comporte deux témoins, l'un pour la présence de prostatite, l'autre pour l'absence de prostatite.
