A system for detecting small quantities of agent such as DNA in a larger volume of substance is disclosed. The system includes a radiation emitter arranged so as to emit radiation on to a quantity of substance containing the agent. The incident radiation excites the agent causing it to emit radiation detectable by suitable detection means. The incident and emitted radiation are directed by a light guide that also acts so as to contain the substance being monitored.

L'invention porte sur un système destiné à détecter de petites quantités d'un agent, tel que de l'ADN, dans un volume plus important de substance. Le système comprend un émetteur de rayonnement disposé de façon à émettre un rayonnement sur une certaine quantité d'une substance contenant l'agent. Le rayonnement incident excite l'agent, l'amenant à émettre un rayonnement qui peut être détecté par un moyen de détection approprié. Le rayonnement incident et le rayonnement émis sont dirigés par un guide de lumière qui a aussi pour rôle de contenir la substance faisant l'objet de la surveillance.
