ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A detector for use in an infrared gas analyser is disclosed. The detector includes a metallic block housing an inlet port for a measuring light beam and an inlet port for a reference light beam. A light sensor is positioned in the block for receiving radiation through two multilayer interference filters, one disposed in each inlet port. A heating coil is embedded in the block and the electrical supply to this coil can be con- trolled by a control circuit. Because all the components are located in the block their temperature can be stabilized simply by stabilizing the temperature of the block. Also, the design permits smaller than usual dimensions, thus reducing the thermal capacity and facilitating temperature control.
