26648-6 ABSTRACT The detector system for the directional detection of laser radiation incorporates individual optical systems that cover a prescribed total solid angle. Each individual optical system con- sists of a photoconductor and a photoconcentrator which is essen- tially funnel-shaped and tapers towards the end of the photocon- ductor and is of a rotationally symmetrical shape. The funnel wall is reflective on the inside and is so shaped that the fol- lowing condition is fulfilled: AK sin2 .theta. max > AF sin2 .theta. g wherein: AK is the surface of the light-accepting opening of the photocon- centrator, AF is the area of the photoconductor, .theta. max is the maximum acceptance angle of the inlet optical system, and .theta. g is the fibre acceptance angle that is defined by the numerical apperture An = sin .theta. g of the photoconductor.
