DETENT MECHANISM WITH ARC TRAVEL LIMITER ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Disclosed is a detent mechanism which includes a fixed detent platform having an aperture therethrough and first and second upwardly extending tabs. First and second protuberances are formed in the detent platform on arcuate paths between the tabs. A rotatable control rod passes through the aperture of the detent platform, and has a transverse appendage extending outward therefrom, which appendage is in contact with the top surface of the detent platform between the first and second upwardly extending tabs. A biasing means is carried on the control rod to urge the transverse appendage into contact with the detent platform whereby the first and second tabs absolutely limit the arcuate travel of the control rod through contact with the transverse appendage, and the first and second protuberances impede the arcuate travel of the control rod through spring loaded contact with the transverse appendage. Preferably the transverse appendage is a spring pin projecting out from the control rod.
