A granular detergent composition comprises at least one detergent-active compound, an alkali metal carbonate detergency builder, finely divided calcium carbonate having a surface area of at least 10 m2/g, a peroxy bleach system, and optionally other detergent ingredients; has a bulk density of at least 750 g/litre; and contains not more than 4 wt%, and preferably not more than 2 wt%, of water removable at 75°C.
