A detergent composition containing in combination (a) a detergent builder system containing a carboxylate or polycarboxylate builder and having a major proportion by weight of non-carbonate builder compound; (b) an organo diphosphonic acid or its salts or complexes or any mixture thereof; and (c) an organic polymer containing acrylic acid or its salts, having an average molecular weight of less than 15,000.
