The invention provides a tablet of a compacted particulate composition for use in fabric washing which contains detergent-active, detergency builder and other ingredients, characterised in that the tablet contains: i) a smectite clay mineral; and ii) a material with a water-solubility which exceeds 50 gm per 100 gm of water at 20 ~C; and iii) 0.5 to 40 % by weight of an anionic surfactant. The tablets of the invention exhibit good disintegration properties and good tablet strength. The tablets further typically provide a fabric softening or conditioning benefit. Also provided is the use of a smectite clay mineral in a tablet of a compacted particulate composition used in fabric washing as a tablet disintegration aid.

Cette invention concerne une composition de particules compactées sous forme de comprimé qui est destinée au lavage des tissus et qui renferme un principe actif détergent, un agent de détergence et d'autres ingrédients. Ce comprimé se caractérise en ce qu'il contient (i) un minérau argileux à base de smectite; (ii) un matériau dont l'hydrosolubilité à l'eau dépasse 50 gm par 100 gm d'eau à 20 ·C; et (iii) de 0,5 à 40 % en poids d'un tensioactif anionique. Les comprimés selon l'invention possèdent de bonnes propriétés de désintégration et une grande robustesse. De plus, ces comprimés ont un effet généralement adoucisseur et traitant. L'invention porte également un minéral à base de smectite entrant dans la composition d'un comprimé dont il facilite la désintégration.
