- 1 - DETERGENT COMPOSITIONS ABSTRACT Detergent compositions containing low levels of amine oxides are disclosed. These amine oxides are derived from mono- or polyamines substituted by at least one long chain alkyl or alkenyl group. Preferred polyamide oxides have at least two alkylene oxide radicals attached to different nitrogen atoms. The compositions produce an alkaline laundry liquor pH, preferably in the range from 8.5-11; and fre- quently contain water-soluble and/or water-insoluble detergent builders. These compositions exhibit a broad range of textile treatment benefits particularly enhanced soil release and cleaning properties.
