Non-thixotropic, sodium-free lubricant additive having from 10% to 50% of a liquid organic diluent and from 30% to 90% of a substituted hydrocarbaryl metal salt. At least 30 mole percent of the metal in the metal salt is lithium, and the salt is essentially free of sodium. The BN of the non-thixotropic lubricant additive attributable to the lithium is less than 150. This additive is useful for decreasing black sludge deposits and piston deposits.

Divulgation d'un additif pour lubrifiant non thixotrope, exempt de sodium, renfermant de 10 à 50 % d'un diluant organique liquide et de 30 à 90 % d'un sel métallique d'hydrocarbaryle substitué. Au moins 30 %, en mole, du métal du sel métallique est du lithium, et le sel est pratiquement complètement exempt de sodium. L'indice basique de l'additif pour lubrifiant, non thixotrope, attribuable au lithium est inférieur à 150. Cet additif est utile pour réduire les dépôts de boue noire et les dépôts sur les pistons.
