ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A detergent tablet comprising an alkaline salt is provided with a coating of a hydrated salt having a melting point in the range from 30° C to 95° C. The coating is applied in the form of a melt of the hydrated salt so that a good coating is formed without the need for lengthy drying times. Preferred materials for the coating are sodium acetate tri- hydrate, sodium metaborate tetrahydrate and sodium orthophos- phate dodecahydrate.
