ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The present invention relates to a method for detecting and determining the charac- teristics of breaks or fractures of cans for nuclear reactor fuel elements which makes it possible, after carrying out the detection of any can fracture occurring in one of the rod assemblies of the core, to determine the average number thereof, the extent of the fracture and possibly the position thereof by employing simple means.
